Have We Become a Me Nation?

If you pay any attention to the news, or the posts on social media, you will hear more about rights. How it is my right to wear a mask or their right to put themselves at restaurant. I am not denying that people have rights and that they should not stand up for those rights. But, when does it become about my personal rights and more about my wants and desires. Because what we have to beware of is where does the rights of a person begin and the safety of society begin. I like what Saint Paul states in the Bible, 1 Corinthians 10:23 NIV,  “I have the right to do anything,” you say—but not everything is beneficial. “I have the right to do anything”—but not everything is constructive. 24 No one should seek their own good, but the good of others.” He said this in Chapter 6:23, also. While Paul may be talking about sins, it gets to the heart of our hearts. Where is your heart centered.

Should I really be surprised at the selfishness that some in today’s evangelical community exhibit? Most national preachers talk about the blessings and less about the suffering one has to endure. Which makes it hard to live a life for Christ when the expectations are that only trouble for those who do not follow him. The Bible is full of biblical heroes who have failed, suffered terrible let downs and the best victory they come out with is faith. Yet, it alway put in how their lives came out better. Job is an big example of being blessed. Would you say Simpsons story is better for his repenting? We hear about John the Bapist, yet we never look at the suffering he did for the Kingdom. Nor, do we look deeply at the life of Paul. He not only suffered, for preaching the word but worked his way each step of the way. Never taking what we would say is a salary.

We are more concerned with giving to get, than we are giving from our hearts. How many have refused to give because the person may go and spend it on drugs or alcohol? We hide behind that as a wall. Yet, should we? Yet, is this not a chance to minister? Of course, it is. If you believe that God’s word never returns void, then why not take a moment to give, pray and believe that God will work a miracle? It boils down to where is our heart?

I have to ask, where is your heart? Do you find that you feel that you should not wear a mask, because its your right not to or you just not wanting to conform out of principle? We speak about wearing a mask, but say nothing when a black man is shot and killed, I hear all lives matter. Do they? Are you living like all lives matter? Or, they all matter only if your rights are not trampled on? If so, then you need to act like it. Stand up for those gunned down and stop throwing out stupid sayings. Stop gaslighting the men and women.

I am getting off topic, or am I? I have seen a number of videos of people demeaning workers because they are doing their job. So why are you talking nasty to them? Why not either respect the business or leave? That is your right. Maybe it is time to think of others and not yourself!
